Shero of the Week

Kay Shabazz
Kay endured many challenges during the marriage, including physical and emotional abuse, prompting her to eventually escape, taking only the clothes she was wearing and her two small sons. Kay recalls she went from living in an 8,000 square foot mansion to leaving the country with two young boys and $8.00 overnight.

Mrs. Shabazz has since remarried, started her life over, and aims to empower others by sharing her story.

Wear the Gentle Treatment® purple bracelet!

Wear the Gentle Treatment® purple bracelet to show you care. This past October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we placed these purple bracelets in every specially marked purchase of a Gentle Treatment® No-Lye Conditioning Crème Relaxer kit. Johnson Products donated $1 on your behalf to benefit shelters and foundations that serve, save and improve the lives of domestic abuse victims. The shelter we selected this year is Bethany House in Northern Virginia.

We also selected a Shero of the Year to receive an all expenses paid trip to Washington DC, where Johnson Products Company teamed up with the National Council Against Domestic Violence and Makers of Memories Foundation to conduct a first of its kind Congressional Hearing on The Impact of Domestic Violence on Children.  It was powerful!

Meet our Shero Lisa Miller Baldwin, founder of Wonderfully Made Foundation in Oklahoma City, and watch a recap of our trip here.

Be proactive in the cause to STOP domestic violence.
